I keep track of my spending in an Excel spreadsheet and put detailed information in the comments. I have written a couple macros to make entering data easier.

This macro parses the comments in the selected cells. If decimal values like 0.00 are found their sum are placed in the cell otherwise a zero is placed in the cell.
